If the person or persons were standing in front of you right now in a safe environment, what would you tell them from your heart?

What are the benefits of not forgiving someone who has hurt betrayed, or victimized you?

What are the benefits of forgiving someone who has who has hurt you, betrayed, or victimized you?

Is forgiveness something you do for the other person or for yourself? Why do you say so?

Who holds and keeps the power when we choose not to forgive?

Does the person who offended you have to be present for you to forgive them?

Does the person who hurt you have to apologize for you to forgive them?

How would you feel and benefit if you could get past your pain, make peace with your past and move forward in your life?

Why did Christ forgive His enemies who victimized Him and had Him crucified and nailed on a cross?

On a scale of 1 to 100, with “1″ being little or no forgiveness and “100″ being total forgiveness, honestly give yourself a grad on forgiveness where you see you are at this present moment? _______

James says in “Where Do You Stand that, “pp 139″ When it comes to forgiveness you cannot be a little bit pregnant, either you are, or you’re not! Do you agree or disagree? Is is possible to partially forgive someone?

Part II DON’T BURY THE HATCHET WITH THE HANDLE STICKING UP

Write a brief letter to the person who victimized you expressing how you felt in the past but most importantly, how you feel now about the past experience now. If you have forgiven them 100%, go to God in prayer and sincerely thank Him for forgiving you of all your sins and for Him giving you the power to forgive each and every one who has ever trespass against you. Thank God for setting you free indeed from all your past hurt, heartbreaks, and hang up’s. Afterwards, destroy the letter, burn it or bury it. This symbolizes that you are now a new creation in Christ. That you “behold it” All former things (past hurts, heartbreaks, and hang ups are passed away; all things are new! (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Any winner can tell you that delays are not denials. Ask any champion athlete, or successful entrepreneur, or study the writings of the great inventor Thomas Edison and they will quickly tell and reveal to you that temporarily trailing in a game is not a defeat. Our greatest joys are transformed sorrows. Our most memorable and prized victories are often last minute comebacks. Coach Vince Lombardi reminded us that there are very few experiences in life more rewarding and special that to be part of a totally exhausted team at the moment of a last second victory. The goal is to win in the end. Temporary defeat is never a failure. We never fail at anything until we quit. Winners never quit and quitters never win. A winner is not one who fails, but one who never quits!

Life is like a basketball game in which God made you both the shooter at the free throw line and the referee. No on can foul you out of the game or stop you from shoot at you goal but you. If you keep shooting long enough you will make it and win in the end. Life is like a baseball game where you are the batter and the umpire. No on can call you out or make you stop swinging the bat but you. If you keep swinging everyday you will get a hit and win in the end.

Setbacks may delay you but only you can deny you. Heartbreaks may try to break you but only you can deny you. Interruptions will try to block you but they cannot stop you. Trials may try to discourage you but only you alone can defeat you. When it comes to our true purpose, we never give up; we never give in, and we never give out. “For this cause we do not lose heart.”

Paul the Apostle reminded us “Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day” (2 Corinthians 4:16). Failure is not fatal, its not final, and it’s not futile. Failure is only a temporary event; it’s not a person. Just as life and death are ordinary, necessary, and temporary, so are the temporary trials that the world labels as failure. It’s an ordinary, necessary, and temporary prerequisite for success.

Feedback is the breakfast of champions. It’s not part of the problem; failing forward faster is the main part of the solution. Providence has ordered the steps of mankind so that every one of us must bear the cross of temporary defeat in one form or another. Most losers quit when what they really need to do was to fail forward faster, learn, and grow from the lesson. If we never had a problem, how could we learn and know that with God’s help we can solve them.

A winner never see’s temporary defeat as failure. #1 It’s a needed learning experience. #2 It’s a chance to improve our technique. #3 It’s an oppoortunity to get the helpful input needed to improve ourselves, our people, our process, and our performance. It’s a blessing in disguise. It teaches us a needed lesson. It gives us wisdom and understanding that we would have never learned without the experience.

Success in life is a game that we must play to win. If you check the back of the book called the Bible, we win in the end by a blowout. If the end is well, all is well. Most people who see themselves as failures are not losers at all. They have merely been hoodwinked and bamboozled by Beelzebub into stinking thinking that their temporary defeat was a failure. There is no failure with God. When you do the very best you can, God always says well done!

Never let anyone label you as a failure. As Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “No on can make you feel inferior without you permission.” It’s not what they call you, it what you answer too that’s important. Don’t ever personally make the mistake of using the world failure frivolously or carelessly when referring to or labeling another person based on what you see or think. Man looks on the outside; God looks on the heart.

Father time is the great miracle worker who rights all wrongs and turns many so called failures into great success stories. Mother nature has a way of healing all wounds and wounding all heels. She turns people thought to be heroes into zeroes, and many treated like zeroes into heroes. Many who are first will be last and many who are last will be first in the end. Truth crushed to earth shall rise again.

Right will win in the end. As God’s child, you have been especially selected, royally perfected, created especially and individually by Him. God created you in His own image. You are somebody special!

You are a winner, a victorious over comer, and more than a conqueror. You were born for greatness, engineered for achieving excellence, and endowed by God with His seeds of success. When you have God’s seeds of success, excellence, and greatness growing inside you, a little adversity or temporary defeat will only serve to till your soil, stir up your gift, nurture you seed and cause it to burst and grow into excellent greatness. So if you are going through what you feel like or other perceive to be failure; please be patience with yourself; God is not through with you yet! Keep your head to the sky and your eyes on the prize. Rest if you must, but don’t you quit. When God get through with you, you shall come out like pure gold.

True stories like these and often much worst fill the Internet search engine headlines, nightly news, tabloid magazines, and newspapers. They are the source of countless prayer request, and pharmacy and doctor visits. These and even much more horrific Hurricane Katrina type life changing experiences pervade and dominate the headlines and telephone, chat room, break time, and on line conversations. When we are not the victim or acquainted with them, often they remain on the front page of our mind only until the next Tsunami of tragedies comes along to replace it.

But how do you cope without losing hope when you’re at the end of you rope because that young mother is your mother? These are the emotional intelligence questions that the corners of my mind mentally wrestled God with when thoughts and feelings of discouragement made understanding His ways and peace of mind so hard to find. These are the thoughts and feelings that have overtly and covertly challenged suffering people of all ages throughout the ages. All around us we see people who are hurting. Heartbroken people. Helpless people. Hopeless people at the end of their rope. With tears in our eyes and hurt in our heart we lift our heads to the sky up to God. There is one dominating and overriding question that penetrates our mind, permeates our body, and saturates the soul of our prayers. God wants to know, is it “Why Me Lord,” or “Use Me Lord!”

There is no area in life where people more instinctively jump to conclusions, leaning to their own understanding, and stretch the truth, than when the personally experience bad things happen to good people. When suffering comes many people instinctively react and cry out, “Lord Why Me?” instead of the mature response “Lord Use Me!”

Most of life’s tragedies are mistakely identified and mislabeled as “Acts of God.” When bad things happen to good people, invariably some unbelieving arm chair quarterback or carpet slipper Christian will mistakenly attribute it as “The Will of God.” That’s like a person with a two pack a day cigarette habit blaming God for lung cancer. It’s like an obese glutton blaming, questioning, and charging God foolishly because they have hypertension. Honestly, if most of us were to kick the person who has caused us most of the problems in our lives, it would be our own behind where we would need to begin. In most cases, as the Michael Jackson song says, we would have to start with the “Man In The Mirror.” You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink, God’s Word can give a man or woman wisdom but it can’t make them think.

God loves us so much that while we were still yet sinners, He gave His only begotten Son’s life to die for our sins. Daily the heavenly Father pours out His blessings on the good and on evil people. To believe that someone who loves you more than you love yourself is the cause of all suffering, pain, sickness, disease, disaster and evil in this fallen world is a critical condition case of mistaken identity.

Through DNA testing, in the USA in the past twenty years alone more than 250 innocent victims hae been exonerated and set free from false imprisonment after severing an average of 12 years for crimes they did not commit. The leading cause of the wrongful convictions was “Eye Witness “Mis”identification Testimony in 74% of the cases and False Confessions in 25%. Sad as this is, it’s not a drop in a barrel compared to how many times the enemy has caused catastrophic calamities and gullible people have leaned to their own understanding blamed God for it all.

When Job’s troubles came, his wife, his friends, and eventually everyone involved blamed God. This is because they didn’t have access to the facts, so they didn’t know any better. We have the divine revelation of God’s Word to know the facts. Since we know better, we ought to do better. Proverbs 3:3-5-6 reminds us to “Trust in the Lord God with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will guide you way straight.” When bad things happen to good people, if you don’t know all the facts, and we don’t, it’s best to go to God in prayer, trust Him even when you cannot trace His ways that are higher than our ways, and simply ask Him for guidance. In times like these, it’s wise to “be slow to speak, quick to listen, and slow to get angry (James 1:19). What we need in times like these is not an answer, we need the answer. God is the answer!
